Activated carbon can be purified specially for pharmaceutical use (Norit). Its enormous adsorptive power makes it the ideal agent for binding toxins from gastro-intestinal tract (in poisoning and diarrhea) and from the blood (dialysis) and eliminating them from the body.

Norit is available in tablets, capsules, and as granules (Carbomix).

Norit Pharmaceuticals operates as business unit within Norit Nederland B.V. and has its office in Amersfoort. The manufacturing of pharmaceutical finished products takes place in a new constructed factory (May 2003) in Klazienaveen.
